KeymasterStereoisomerism is a type of isomerism that is exhibited by the compounds having the same structure but different spatial arrangements, that is, different configurations. Such isomers are known as stereoisomers. Configuration is defined as the spatial arrangement of atoms and groups in a molecule. There are two types of stereoisomerism, viz. – optical isomerism and geometrical isomerism (geometric isomerism or cis-trans isomerism).
