Bioinformatics is not a complex term as it appears to be. It is simply the use of Information Technology or IT in Biological and Medical Sciences. Bioinformatics involves a computational approach (use of computer software) to discover, manage, and analyze information pertaining to Biological and Medical Sciences. Bioinformatics is also sometimes called Computational Biology. Bioinformatics covers areas such as prediction of new genes, prediction of new proteins, analysis of genes, analysis of proteins, finding structure of proteins, deciphering evolutionary relationships (molecular phylogenetics), etc. See the definition of molecular phylogenetics at What is Traditional System of Classification in Biology?
