Blatta Orientalis is used in homeopathy in the treatment of asthma, bronchitis, and pulmonary tuberculosis (TB of the lungs / phthisis). Blatta Orientalis has been used with great success in cases characterized by dyspnea (difficult breathing or labored respiration) due to the accumulation of great quantity of mucus. Blatta Orientalis (Blatta-o., Blatt. orient., Blatta Ori.) is prepared from the trituration of the live Indian cockroaches (Blatta orientalis).
The Indian cockroach / oriental cockroach (Blatta orientalis) is an insect belonging to the family Blattidae under the order Blattodea of the class Insecta of the invertebrate phylum Arthropoda. As the oriental cockroach (Blatta orientalis) is found coming out of drains and damp places, it is also known as the “waterbug“. The oriental cockroach (oriental roach or shade roach) is also sometimes called as the “black beetle” because of its smooth, shiny, blackish body. The oriental cockroach emits a strong and distinct unpleasant odor (roachy odor).
